Vehicle Care and Standards

All our rental vehicles are strictly NON SMOKING. Any evidence of smoking in vehicles will incur a £100 fine.

Vehicles must be returned in a reasonably clean condition, with no more than floor mats dirty and free from sand and litter. Failure to return vehicle in this condition will incur a £40.00 service charge to valet the vehicle.

Strictly no pets again any evidence will incur a £40.00 service charge.

Child seats must be kept clean and damage free, failure to do so will incur a £15.00 service charge.

Rental Agreement

Our hire vehicles are covered for use throughout the UK however we do request that you inform us if you are planning on taking your hire car off the islands of Lewis and Harris.

Extensions to the agreed rental period are at the discretion of the Hire Company. Only with prior agreement can an extension be approved.

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be returned to Hire Company with a full tank of fuel. If the vehicle returns not fuelled a service charge of £15.00 will be incurred this is in addition to the cost of fuel.  Hirer may purchase a full tank of fuel at the start of the hire, this relinquishes their responsibility to return the car fully fuelled, however no refund of monies will be given.

Hire Agreements are made on the understanding that the vehicle will be placed at your disposal on the date agreed. Should this not be possible, through circumstances beyond our control, we will provide a substitute vehicle, where possible, or a refund of monies.

Full payment of the Hire will be taken at time of Hire, with an additional £100 security refundable upon completion of hire, subject to vehicle returning in same condition as when originally hired. Vehicle condition will be agreed prior to and at completion of hire by both parties.

Debit/Credit Card details must be given at time of booking. No additional fees are charged for mileage.

If the hirer wishes to cancel their booking we must be given 24 hours notice or a charge of 25% of the total cost of the hire will be debited from their credit card. Hires cancelled more than 24 hours before the arranged time will not incur any charge. If a hirer fails to turn up then the total cost of the hire will be debited from their credit card.

Insurance

All cars have comprehensive insurance cover, but the hirer is responsible for the first £750.00 of loss or damage. This amount can be reduced to £200.00 for an additional fee of £5 per day or £30 per week.

 The hirer is also responsible for the full cost of punctures, damage to wheels, wheel trims and tyres and any lost or damaged keys. Hirers are also responsible for ensuring correct levels of oil, water and tyre pressures.

Vehicles are only covered for use on public roads. Damage to undercarriage of vehicles due to off road use must be paid in full by Hirer.

Costs /damage incurred by the use of incorrect fuel must be paid for by Hirer.

Driver Licence & Licence Requirements

A full driver’s licence should have been held for at least 2 years and MUST be produced at time of rental. New style photo licences must be accompanied with the counterpart section. Hirer is responsible to ensure Photo Card licence is valid (section 4b on photo card)

Overseas drivers must be in possession of an international drivers licence.

Drivers should be aged between 21 - 70 years of age with at least 2 year's experience under a full licence and no more than 2 current minor endorsement or 6 penalty points.  Any hirer over the age of 70 may apply, however hiring is at the discretion of the insurance company and may include an additional charge.

Only the drivers named on the insurance policy can drive the vehicle.

By confirming they have read these terms and conditions the Hirer agrees to Carhire Hebrides debiting their credit/debit card with the total amount due for the hire period and also for any additional charges incurred whilst the vehicle is in their possession.
